FIVE STEPS TO SHOOT GANAPATHY VISARJAN WITH YOUR SMARTPHONE

Next year when you witness the the colourful celebration of Ganapathy visarjan, dont just stand and be a passive witness. Take out your smartphone, capture the colourful event of religious fervour, music, dance, lazim and make a beautiful documentary or a video film like a seasoned cinematographer or a Mobile Journalist. It is easier than you imagine and that too at zero cost. FIVE STEPS 1) Plan in advance what is going to be your shooting sequence. It can be the Origin, Procession and the End ( Visarjan) . The ceremonious Ganesh immersion marks the high point of the 10-day festival. 2) ORIGIN: Shooting the aarti of Ganapathy Bappa before he is taken on a procession. Take long, shot, mid shot and close shot of Ganapathy aarti. Capture a little more shots than you plan to use so that you have variety to choose. 3) PROCESSION. This is the most important element of shooting. Use a tripod to get steady shots. Shoot from different angles and different people to capture variety. 4) Take bites (short interviews) of select people to make it interesting. Use external mike to get good audio( I use Boya mike). 5. VISARJAN: Finally remember to get good shots of Visarjan. Edit all these footage using a good software. I use Kinemaster as it is user friendly. In the voiceover add interesting historical information about the whole procession.
